Puerto Rico 64 Dominican Republic 58
Dominican Republic, which lost 111-36 to Canada on Tuesday, put a scare into Puerto Rico at the FIBA Americas Women’s Championship on Wednesday at the Saville Community Sports Centre.
Puerto Rico was able to pull off a 64-58 win, but it wasn’t the dominating performance the team expected.
“I don’t know what happened today with us,” said Puerto Rico head coach Jerry Batista. “We usually are a team that plays a little bit better against them.
“We were awful today, awful today in defence, awful today in offence. Last time we played them, we beat them by 30. This is the closest they have been with us in the past five or six years.”
