A clothing store with Caribbean roots emerged in downtown Port Clinton earlier this summer.
Emporio 459 opened in June and offers a wide variety of indie clothing lines and other items from small developers from across the country and overseas.
“No other stores around here offer these sort of items,” co-owner Steven Marvicsin said. “We consider ourselves a little hippie, but we think the culture is moving toward these smaller clothing lines and getting way from the big box stores.”
Marvicsin and his wife, Yami, moved to Port Clinton after living in Puerto Rico for several years. They opened the store together to reflect the culture they encountered in the Caribbean.
“Port Clinton was always home for me,” Marvicsin said. “We decided to come back to get closer to family and so our kids could be near their grandparents.”
