GRIFF’S VIEW – BLUE JAYS WIN STREAK NO GUARANTEE OF SUCCESS
The Blue Jays have won 11 in a row heading into Monday night’s interleague action against the Mets. There are several giant caveats for fans that want to buy into this dramatic turnaround, this unlikely win streak to suggest that the Jays are truly contenders in a gawd-awful AL East Division.
First of all is the fact that while the Jays have put together a club-record tying streak, others in the division have also been on nice rolls – everyone but the Red Sox. In fact, through Sunday night’s games there were four AL East teams at .500 or above, with the division playing to a combined six games above the break-even mark. The best division in baseball is the NL Central at plus-13.
